Via Engiadina Maloja - Scuol

Individual Panoramic Hike with luggage transport

The Via Engiadina connects the Upper and Lower part of the Engadin valley and leads from Maloja to Vinadi (Scuol). This diverse hike takes you through pine and larch forests, over small streams with crystal clear water, over alpine meadows and past idyllic Maiensässen and original Engadin villages.  Your constant companion is the breathtaking view of this unrivalled landscape of the Engadin valley.

You can arrive by private car over the Julierpass or by the Rhaetian Railway and the Postbus via Chur to St. Moritz and further on to Maloja. Maloja is a village in Graubünden at the border of Italian-speaking Switzerland and the southern valley of Bergell. The  fascinating play of light and shadow has always attracted artists. Giovanni Segantini selected Maloja as his last home and subject for many landscape paintings. Also Giovanni Giacometti - the father of Alberto Giacometti - worked here. Their spirit is still an inspiration for exhibitions, readings and concerts. For the 100th anniversary of the great artist Giovanni Segantini, the Sentiero Segantini was created in Maloja in 1994. A unique walk in the footsteps of the great artist.

On the first stage from Maloja to Silvaplana you will pass the Heidi Village Grevasalvas where the movie "Heidi" was produced in 1978.

The second stage leads from Silvaplana to Samedan. Samedan was a very important traffic junction as early as the Middle Ages. In the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries proud patrician and stately Engadin houses were build, which can be seen on a stroll through the town center.

The third stage ends in Zuoz. A typical Engadin village that has saved the witnesses of its eventful past into the present.

The next day leads from Zuoz to Zernez - the gateway to the Swiss National Park. Take the time to visit the center of the Swiss National Park. In the four exhibition rooms of the visitor center, you will approach the subject of the national park, its fauna and flora, its history and the inexhaustible diversity of nature in a completely new way. Of course, you can extend your stay so that you can also go on a hiking tour in the Swiss National Park.

From here you continue the hiking tour to the Lower Engadin. The next stage is from Zernez to Guarda one of the most beautiful villages in Switzerland. Guarda is also famous as the home of Schellen-Ursli.

The hiking tour continues down the valley to Ardez with its striking castle ruins and the breathtaking view over the Inn valley. The stage ends in Scuol.

If you like, you can do the remaining stages to Sent, Tschlin and to Vinadi from Scuol.
We offer you the opportunity to book additional nights and you can hike the remaining stages according to your mood.

During your stay in Scuol you should visit the "Bogn Engiadina" with a spacious bathing and sauna area, the Roman-Irish bath and other therapy and wellness offers for a holistic well-being.
